Pharmacy

In Clinic Pharmacy

At Hallam Park Animal Hospital, we offer a comprehensive in-clinic pharmacy service that goes beyond simply dispensing medications. Our pharmacy is an integral part of our veterinary care, providing numerous benefits over online alternatives.

Key Features of Our In-Clinic Pharmacy:

  1. Immediate Availability: Critical medications are on hand when your pet needs them most.
  2. Expert Guidance: Our veterinarians provide personalised advice on medication usage and potential side effects.
  3. Quality Assurance: We guarantee the proper storage and handling of all medications.
  4. Demonstration Services: We can show you how to administer medications correctly.
  5. Ongoing Support: Our team is available to address any concerns or questions about your pet’s medications.
  6. Flexible Solutions: We offer refunds or exchanges if a medication doesn’t suit your pet’s needs.

Why Choose Our Pharmacy Over Online Options:

  • Immediate access to medications for urgent situations
  • Assurance of appropriate medication selection based on your pet’s specific needs
  • Expert advice and support throughout the treatment process
  • Guaranteed quality and effectiveness of medications
  • Ability to adjust treatments quickly if needed

While online pharmacies may offer lower prices, they cannot provide the comprehensive care and expertise that comes with our in-clinic pharmacy services. By choosing our pharmacy, you’re not just buying medication – you’re investing in your pet’s health with the support of our experienced veterinary team.

We understand that cost is a consideration, and we’re always happy to discuss options that balance your budget with your pet’s healthcare needs. Remember, when you purchase from us, you’re also supporting a local business that provides vital services to our community, including pro-bono work for rescue groups and wildlife.

For any questions about our pharmacy services or to discuss your pet’s medication needs, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Prescriptions

We are committed to keeping your pet healthy and comfortable with the essential long-term medications they need. We offer a wide range of medications in-house and can also place special orders for your convenience. If you prefer, we are happy to provide a prescription that you can fill at an alternative online pharmacy of your choice. Your pet’s health and well-being are our top priority, and we strive to make their care as accessible and stress-free as possible.

Our Prescription Refill Policy

  • Only pets under the care of a Hallam Park Animal Hospital vet, which has been seen in the past 6 months are eligible for long-term medication prescription refills.
  • Regular reassessments are crucial to ensure the medication remains appropriate, the dosage is correct, and any disease progression is monitored.
  • All prescriptions must be fulfilled within six months of the last consultation.
  • Some conditions may require more frequent examinations or blood tests.

How to Request a Refill

  1. Call us on (03) 8786 3900 or visit our clinic in person.
  2. Inform us that you need a refill of your pet’s prescription.
  3. We will prepare the medication for pickup, typically within one business day.

Soft Tissue Surgery at Hallam Park Animal Hospital

At Hallam Park Animal Hospital, we offer a comprehensive range of soft tissue surgical procedures to address various conditions in pets. Our skilled veterinary surgeons are experienced in performing both routine and complex soft tissue surgeries, ensuring the best possible outcomes for your beloved companions.

Our soft tissue surgical services include:

  • Lump Removal: We perform thorough examinations and surgical removal of suspicious lumps and tumours, followed by laboratory analysis to determine the nature of the growth.

  • Gastropexy: A preventative procedure for large breed dogs at risk of gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV), permanently attaching the stomach to the abdominal wall to reduce the risk of twisting.

  • Foreign Body Investigation and Removal: Surgical intervention to locate and remove ingested objects causing blockages or complications in the gastrointestinal tract.

  • Splenectomy: Removal of the spleen, often necessary for conditions such as splenic tumours or ruptures.

  • Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus (GDV) Surgery: Emergency surgery to treat and prevent life-threatening stomach twisting, commonly known as bloat.

  • Pyometra Surgery: Emergency removal of an infected uterus, a condition common in unspayed female dogs.

  • Other Soft Tissue Surgeries: Including but not limited to wound repair, hernia correction, and various abdominal and thoracic procedures.

Our surgical suite is well equipped with advanced monitoring systems to ensure your pet’s safety throughout the procedure. We employ strict sterile techniques and provide comprehensive pre- and post-operative care to support your pet’s recovery.

Following surgery, our team will provide detailed aftercare instructions and schedule follow-up appointments to monitor your pet’s healing progress. We’re committed to ensuring your pet receives the highest standard of surgical care and support throughout their treatment journey.
