X-Ray and Ultrasound

Ultrasonography

At Hallam Park Animal Hospital, we offer ultrasound as a valuable diagnostic tool for your pets. Ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging technique that uses sound waves to create detailed images of internal organs and structures. Our veterinarians use ultrasound to gain valuable insights into your pet’s health, allowing for more accurate diagnoses and tailored treatment plans. This technology enables us to visualize internal structures without the need for invasive procedures, making it an essential tool in modern veterinary medicine.

Ultrasonography is commonly used to examine organs such as the liver, kidneys, heart, bladder, and reproductive system. It’s particularly valuable for diagnosing conditions like tumors, cysts, infections, fluid accumulation, and abnormalities in the heart or blood vessels. It’s also used in pregnancy monitoring, enabling the visualization of developing fetuses in female animals.

One of the key advantages of ultrasonography is that it’s a painless and safe procedure, offering immediate results with no radiation exposure. It’s especially useful for guiding procedures such as biopsies or fluid aspiration. Since it’s non-invasive, it’s a highly effective tool for diagnosing a wide range of conditions while minimizing stress for your pet.

Ultrasound is a valuable tool not only for diagnosing conditions but also for guiding the collection of tissue or fluid samples through procedures like biopsies or aspiration. This is known as ultrasound-guided sampling. By combining the power of imaging with sample collection, ultrasound-guided procedures enable us to diagnose a variety of conditions more accurately and with less risk to your pet. It’s a safe, effective, and minimally invasive way to obtain valuable information for your pet’s health care plan.

Radiography/X-Rays

We recommend X-rays when a thorough evaluation of your pet’s internal health is necessary. If your pet is experiencing unexplained pain, difficulty moving or breathing issues, X-rays can help us identify the root cause. We may also suggest X-rays for routine health monitoring, especially in older pets or those with chronic conditions like arthritis or heart disease.

X-rays are often a key part of diagnosing injuries, such as fractures or dislocations, and assessing the health of internal organs, including the lungs, heart, and gastrointestinal system. They provide fast results, allowing our vets to make prompt, informed decisions and adjust treatment plans as needed. This safe and low-radiation procedure can be repeated to monitor healing progress or ongoing health concerns. When used alongside other diagnostic tools, X-rays give a comprehensive understanding of your pet’s condition, helping to guide accurate diagnosis and effective treatment.

Our team is here to guide you through the process, ensuring your pet’s comfort and safety. We use the latest technology to provide high-quality images, and we’ll always discuss the results with you in detail so you can make informed decisions about your pet’s care. If you think your pet might benefit from an X-ray, don’t hesitate to contact us to schedule a consultation.
